Five Minutes with Cara Gilbertson

Introducing the newest member of the Evolution London team, Cara Gilbertson! Cara is covering for Lauren whilst she's off on maternity leave as our Head of Seasonal Sales, so we sat down with her for 5 minutes to find out all about her and her role at the venue.

Tell us a bit about your role at Evolution London.

I’m Head of Seasonal Sales for Evolution London, currently on a maternity cover contract, which means I’m the go-to for anything Summer or Christmas at the venue! The role consists of answering enquiries, producing proposals, conducting site visits and doing everything you can to get the sale over the line and make your clients happy! Although I look after seasonal events, my role can vary and I can deal with clients who are looking at events at any time throughout the year which is why I really love the role and working at such a versatile venue. As well as looking after incoming sales, a large part of my role is to actively develop client relationships meaning I can be onsite showing prospective clients around the venue or hosting them at one of the many events we hold at the venue which can be super fun!

What’s your favourite thing about the venue?

My favourite thing about the venue is how versatile and blank canvas it is – clients can really transform the space and bring their vision to life. I also love how the venue is completely transformed during the festive season, making it unrecognisable but also a wow, must-choose venue for your Christmas party or awards dinners.

'Carnivale' at Evolution London

What’s your favourite event that you have done so far?

As I’m still fairly new to the business, I’m yet to witness one of my events come to life, but I’m really looking forward to seeing these in the coming months! I’m especially looking forward to a ‘The Greatest Showman’ themed awards ceremony for 500 guests in April. Besides this, I joined over the festive season so was amazing to be part of the entire Christmas season and see the vision of Carnivale truly transform the venue. I already can’t wait to see this year’s Off Piste theme – it’s going to be incredible!

What’s your favourite dish prepared by our chefs?

My absolute favourite has to be the braised beef cheek with truffle mash. I am still amazed at how many times I have tried this at events for 1000+ guests, and the beef is absolutely stunning, melts in the mouth and is incredibly tasty!

What’s your favourite thing to do in London?

I am a huge foodie and wine lover, so I love to explore new bars and restaurants. London is constantly changing with new places to experience and I always have a long list of recommendations, so you’ll always find me out and about on my days off!

What has your role at Evolution taught you?

Evolution London is a monster of a venue and my role has taught me that every event needs to be handled in a different way, taking into consideration all elements of an event and not just the basics. It has encouraged me to think outside of the box and really advise clients on what would work in the venue in order to sell it to its full potential, so it’s always challenging my creative mind!
