Five Minutes with Lucy Gooby

Meet Lucy Gooby, Head of Ticketed Sales! With recent changes to the sales team at Evolution London, Lucy—formerly responsible for Christmas ticketed sales—is now involved with venue sales year-round. Keep reading to find out more!

Can you tell us a bit about your role at Evolution London?

As Head of Ticketed Sales, I initially focused on selling our ticketed festive events while the venue was transformed with theming and production. Now, I am involved in selling the venue year-round, working across a wide range of events. It’s always rewarding to see a client’s vision come to life, taking the space from a blank canvas to a fully executed event.

How did you get into the events industry?

During my university placement in the events industry, I quickly realised it was the right path for me. While working that year, I came across Smart Group and knew I wanted to be part of it. What stood out was the opportunity to see every aspect of an event come together under one roof—from the exceptional catering by Moving Venue & Last Supper to the creative expertise of Story Events. It’s great to see all the teams working together to deliver some amazing events.

What's your favourite thing about the venue?

The flexibility. Evolution London is a true blank canvas, meaning no idea is too ambitious. Whether it’s suspending a car from the ceiling or creating an indoor theme park, we can make it happen.

What’s been your favourite event so far?

Hospitality Rocks is always a highlight for me. Held every January at Evolution London, it brings together 2000 event professionals for an unforgettable evening that marks the perfect end to the Christmas party season. It’s a brilliant way to unite the industry, celebrate all the hard work, and let off some steam after the festive rush. Although, it does make Dry January an impossible feat!

What’s your favourite thing to do in London in your free time?

London is at its best in the sunshine. A rooftop bar with a glass of rosé is my ideal way to spend an afternoon.

Last but not least, what's your favourite dish prepared by our chefs?

Aside from Alison’s weekly staff roast at HQ, the Mash-tini Bar by Moving Venue is a favourite. A selection of mashed potatoes with toppings like cheese, crispy onions, and gravy—simple but always a winner.
