Five Minutes with Shilpa Parmar

We sat down for 5 minutes with one of our Event Account Managers, Shilpa, to find out some more about her and her role in the team!

Tell us about your role at Evolution London?

I’m an Event Account Manager, which means I plan events from a venue and catering perspective for events averaging 1,300 guests. My role consists of being our clients’ venue and catering point of contact, which is rare for this type of venue. However, this is a bonus for the client as they have one less person to deal with! Working at Evolution means no day is the same, and I definitely learn something new every day. That said, my average day sees me conducting site visits, client meetings, speaking to suppliers, booking venue personnel, attending tastings, admin (which includes finalising cost sheets and signing off invoices), and sending chefs the guests’ dietary requirements, which for over 1,000 attendees is no easy task!

What's your favourite thing about the venue?

My favourite thing about our venue is that it is a blank canvas, so you can really transform the venue to fit your theme. I also love the people and different teams that I work with here – they all know the venue inside out and we always put our all into making sure each event is a success.

What's your favourite event that you have done so far?

That’s a tough one! I would say the Publican Awards is my favourite as they have 20 beverage sponsors who all build their own bars within our drinks reception space. The venue looks completely different once they are live and watching it all come together is really cool!

What's your favourite thing to do in London?

My favourite thing to do in London has got to be trying new restaurants. London has a really cool foodie scene and I’ve always got a long list of restaurants to check out. That’s another great thing about working in Battersea – there are so many cool places to eat and drink nearby so I never run out of new places to try!

What has your role at Evolution London taught you?

Working at Evolution London has taught me to think on my feet. Working in a semi-permanent structure has meant coming up against some interesting challenges at times, so we’ve had to come up with some creative solutions along the way!
